You access areas in a linear way but when you find the Concrete Shot you can explore each area to find useful items such as E-Tanks and even M-Tanks, as well as hidden plushies scattered in hard-to-reach areas. Once you get to the final area, make sure to follow the green arrow as you get in, you'll have access to a room with a map of the area, detailed with arrows and icons to the boss rooms, alongside a shortcut to the level's exit (to backtrack for items) and a checkpoint to heal (there's another room like this near the last boss room). You have to defeat each of the 3 bosses to get red keys before accessing the final boss, so expect this area to be as long as the previous areas combined! And make sure to spare ammo.
